Senior Network Engineer

Job Description:
•Responsible for rapid recovery of network outages and the day-to-day network operations at the Network Operation Center (NOC).•Acts as the first escalation point for both technical and managerial issues.•Ensures that all processes and procedures have been implemented, understood and followed by their respective shift.•Workload management and delegation to junior NOC Engineers and Technicians is an essential component to the position.•May require support of both unclassified and classified networks.•Reports to the Shift Operations Manager.•Provide rapid recovery of network outages and conduct network maintenance while receiving work direction from the Shift Operations Manager.•Ensure proactive monitoring utilizing network monitoring tools, such as NetCool and NetView.•Lead conference calls for assigned maintenance activities and outages.•Update and resolve outages and maintenance using Remedy ticketing system.•Generate reports as required for review by Operations Manager for assigned outages.•Train, coach, and mentor junior team members in their career development.•Delegation and assignment of maintenance tasks and trouble tickets to junior shift personnel.•Responsible to understand and ensure compliance for meeting critical Service Level Agreements (SLA), and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).•Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures.•Perform escalation and additional tasks as directed.•Act as the assigned designee for the Shift Operations Manager as needed.
Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent experience in related field.•Cisco CCNA required•Security+ Certification required•5-7 years experiencenetwork design, operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, hubs, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment.•A strong knowledge of Remedy Trouble Ticketing software, NetView, NetCool monitoring tools, and CiscoWorks is necessary. Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and ATM is required.•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

•Information Assurance professional certifications that meet DoD 8570.1M requirements for IAT-2 (Security +).
Preferred Additional Skills:
•
Previous experience working on DoD bases/sites, including previous military service highly desirable.•
Knowledge and experience working with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable.•ITIL foundation V3 certification is highly desirable.•Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.•
CCNP preferred
This position requires the candidate to already possess an active Secret clearance and to maintain the clearance.
