Kapi'olani
Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to
caring for Hawai�i's women and children, through excellence in
academics and clinical care. The group is comprised of over 115
specialists covering newborn to women's health services that
includes, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology, Pediatrics, Pediatric
Gastroenterology, Pediatrics Orthopedics, Pediatric Urology, and many
other specialists. KMS has partnered with Kapi'olani Medical
Center for Women & Children to provide pediatric and women's
specialty care. KMS offers highly specialized care available
only at Kapi'olani, and building community support for providing
these services within Hawai�i Operating exclusively for charitable,
scientific and educational purposes.
As the state's
only specialty hospital, Kapi�olani is recognized as Hawai�i's leader
in the care of women and children. Kapi�olani is well recognized
as Hawai�i's leader in the care of women and children. As the
major teaching hospital for the state�s Pediatrics Residency program,
Kapi�olani has a highly trained team of physician specialists,
nurses, technologists and therapists that share a special
understanding of a child�s need. The midlevel practitioner team
focuses on restoring health and function and providing comfort and
dignity through the continuum of care in the NICU. The team
includes a Neonatologist, Midlevel Practitioner (hospitalist or NNP
or Physician Assistant), Pharmacist, Case Manager, Social Worker, and
other disciplines that help to achieve excellence in
care.
The Neonatal
Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the direct care and treatment
of neonatal patients, leading and performing patient evaluations,
treatments, and performance of specialized technical procedures.
Serves as a subject matter expert and clinical resource to both staff
and physicians, facilitating health education of family members,
referrals to other disciplines, and consultation with colleagues and
other allied health personnel.

Requirements
Minimum
Qualifications: Must meet education requirements for Hawai�i state
licensing as an RN and an APRN. Current Hawai�i RN
license. Current Hawai�i APRN license. Must meet education
requirements and obtain current Hawai�i prescriptive authority (Rx)
license within two years of hire. Completion of a formal
Neonatology Nurse Practitioner Program. Successful completion of
Medical Staff Credentialing process. Current BLS Healthcare
Provider card. Current NRP Certification. Two years
experience in nursing area of specialty.
Preferred: Nationally certified as a neonatal nurse
practitioner through ANCC. One year advanced practitioner
experience. Teaching and/or public speaking
experience.
