Job Description
This is an anticipatory position that is projected to start 01 April 2013.
In support of our Marine Corps client''s mission to operate and defend the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN), the candidate will use their experience with network security devices to install, operate and maintain switches, routers, firewalls and other network services for an enclave(s) in support of the Enterprise Services, Integrated Network Services (INS) team.
The Network Security Engineer is the backbone of technical expertise for a team of engineers responsible for ensuring the continued operations and functions of enterprise network assets including Cisco Routers and switches, VPNs, Red Hat Linux, McAfee Enterprise Firewalls, Fortinet Firewalls in a large scale secured classified and unclassified network environments through an extensive quality assurance and auditing function.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support (technical writing, documentation, diagram support) to the team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support (technical writing, documentation, diagram support) to the team.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of the tasks listed below:
• Conduct daily performance checks on 100+ Linux systems and 250+ Cisco devices (CPU utilization, system logs, system errors, others as required).
• Create Remedy trouble tickets for any corrective action taken for daily checks.
• Perform system maintenance on any systems requiring patching and upgrading.
• Work Remedy trouble tickets as assigned by Tier II lead.
• Perform immediate troubleshooting as the situation dictates for any and all network outages as reported by users, sensors, and/or operational personnel.
• Maintain constant observance of network monitoring tools to facilitate quick reaction to any network outage.
• Proactively utilize network monitoring tools to isolate events before service degradation occurs.
• Configure and create replacement gear as needed.
• As a member of a team, configure, install, monitor, upgrade and maintain 64 Point of Presence suites and networks that are protected by those suites.
• Coordinate with users and Internet Service Providers to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution for any Remedy trouble tickets pertaining to the Tier II environment.
• Modify firewall configuration to add new network services, remove unnecessary or expired services and enhance existing services while maintaining firewall security policy.
• Trouble shooting layers 1, 2 and 3 of the OSI Model.
• Apply security patches as required.
• Perform Taclane and Fastlane configuration Management.
• Create technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation to support the Quality Management team.
The successful candidate may also support the following functions:
• Develop and implement a risk-based IS audit strategy for the organization in compliance with IS audit standards, guidelines and best practices.
• Plan specific audits to ensure that IT and business systems are protected and controlled.
• Conduct audits in accordance with IS audit standards, guidelines and best practices to meet planned audit objectives.
• Communicate emerging issues, potential risks, and audit results to key stakeholders.
Degree/Education Requirements
Bachelor''s Degree information Technology, Communications or Engineering.
Industry certifications can be used to overcome a deficiency with the degree.
Required Skills
4 or more years of network systems security experience.
Strong Experience with CISCO routers 7200 and ASR 1000 series.
Strong Experience with network switching using Cisco 3750 to 6509 switches.
Strong Experience with IPSec VPN''s - Juniper, Fortinet.
Strong Experience with Fortinet and McAfee Firewalls.
Strong Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Fastlane and Taclane encryption devices.
Strong Experience to working knowledge of VoIP and VTC technologies.
Working knowledge F5 load balancers.
Experience with trouble shooting layers 1-3 of the OSI Model.
CERTIFICATIONS:
CISSP certification.
